Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how askbud io LLC, dba Budtello, a Wyoming limited liability company (“Budtello,” “we,” “us”) collects and uses information when you use Budtello Marketplace at market.budtello.com (the “Service”). The Service is a B2B product; the information we handle is business information and the account details of the people who operate it.

1. What we collect

Account data — your name, email address, and authentication details, handled by our sign-in provider, Clerk.
Business data — company name, OLCC (or other state) license and permit numbers, and business contact information you provide.
Metrc API key — if you verify your license, the Metrc user API key you submit. It is stored encrypted using industry-standard encryption. It is used to verify licensure and to read your package and lab-result data from Metrc and keep your inventory in sync. It is never displayed back and never shared.
Imported Metrc data — the packages, quantities, harvest and source details and lab results Metrc holds for the licenses on your key, mirrored when you verify and kept in sync. Other participants see only what you publish as a listing.
Listing content and media — the listings you create, their prices and quantities over time, and the photos/video you upload, stored and served by AWS. With each photo or video we save the facts that described the lot at that moment (strain, lab results, grow type, grade, nose, asking price, quantity).
Requests, offers, messages and contacts — what you send to other participants through the Service, and the business contacts you save.
Favorites — the listings you star. Private to your account; sellers see counts, never who.
Usage and technical data — standard server logs (IP address, pages requested, timestamps) and the cookies needed to keep you signed in and remember your display preference (authentication session cookies; a light/dark theme cookie; a short-lived pass when you hand a photo upload to your phone; the public demo uses its own short-lived session cookie). We use no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Manifest tool content — the transfer routes, stops, saved places, and run history you create with the route tools, stored for you (history, autosave, and favorites). This content is visible only to your account, is kept until you delete it or your account, and is not used for analytics, AI training or combined data.
Product usage analytics — which features are used, how often, and basic timings and error diagnostics, tied to your account. Used to improve the product and, in combined form, for the purposes in section 2. These events never include the contents of your routes, listings, or offers.
Support history — a record of the changes made to your listings and settings, so that we can help you undo a mistake.
Agreement records — which version of our Terms and this Policy you accepted, the exact wording shown, when, and the IP address and browser used.
Payment data — payment card details go directly to our payment processor, Stripe; we never store card numbers. Stripe’s privacy policy governs payment data.

2. How we use it

To operate the Service: authenticate you, verify licensure, display your listings to verified participants, deliver what you send to other participants, provide support, bill subscriptions, and keep the Service secure.

To build better tools for this market: we use what you post — including photos and video and the facts saved with them — to build, train and improve software, including machine-learning and AI models, as set out in sections 5 and 6 of the Terms of Service.

To understand the market: we combine or de-identify information from many businesses to produce statistics (for example typical asking prices, or how much interest a seller’s own listings are getting, as counts and never names), as set out in section 7 of the Terms.

We do not sell personal data, we do not use your data for advertising, and section 8 of the Terms lists what we will never do with your Content.

Other participants see what the Service is designed to show them: your published listings and media, your business name once they are verified, and what you choose to send them.

Service providers needed to run the Service: AWS (hosting, storage, media processing, secrets, backups), Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Metrc (the state track-and-trace system, queried to verify licensure and to mirror your inventory), and Google (delivery of the emails the Service sends). The route tools send the addresses you type to mapping services to place them on the map (OpenStreetMap and the US Census geocoder), and to Google Maps only when you press Navigate. Each receives only what its function requires. If we begin using an outside AI provider to process Content, we will name it here.

We may also disclose information if required by law, and to a successor to our business that is bound by this Policy.

4. Retention and deletion

We keep account and business data while your account is active. Listings you remove leave the market immediately but stay in our records so you can restore them and so we can help with support requests. Photos, video and the facts saved with them are kept under the permission in section 5 of the Terms, which continues after a listing is gone; a photo or video you delete from a listing is removed from our storage. Agreement records are kept permanently as evidence of what was agreed.

To request deletion of your account, email help@budtello.com. Within 30 days we delete or de-identify your personal details — name, email, phone, sign-in — except what we must keep (agreement records, and records needed for disputes or by law), and confirm when done. Section 9 of the Terms explains what happens to Content you contributed.

5. Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Sensitive credentials (your Metrc key) are encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption, and access follows least-privilege. No system is perfectly secure, but we design so that a single failure does not expose your credentials.

6. Changes

If we materially change this policy we will give notice before the change takes effect and ask you to agree to the new version the next time you sign in.
